About the event
We return to Corvedale Festival with a programme of works by Byrd (and one by Tallis) arranged for voice and lute (some contemporaneously, others more recently). Also included are arrangements for solo lute by Francis Cutting and others of some of his keyboard works. A lute song by Thomas Morley, one of his pupils, based on a text from Sir Philip Sidney's Astrophil & Stella, highlights the strong connection Byrd clearly had with Sidney as seen in several of his songs.
